LHM, you think so?

I've never encountered limp-home mode, but I didn't think it caused stalling. Because the throttle plate gets directly linked to the cable, it can't close completely to cut off air supply (there's an adjustable screw stop to prevent that), so in my mind the only way it could cause a stall is by opening too wide and causing a lean mixture - which would mean something in the air metering, ignition or fuel system weren't doing its job.
Point being, I know LHM makes the car very difficult to drive, but it shouldn't make the engine cut out. If I'm wrong, I'd be interested to know how that can happen, as I've had some stalling problems of my own.
Your other suggestions for cleaning and replacing items are valid, but the DIC is the reason I asked about recalls. If it's the original module, I don't think it's out of the question.
