I would suggest to cleand and lubricate:
a) parking brake adjuster;
b) expander
I used WD40 to soak the expander and then a file and sandpaper. Also, lubricate the expanders and adjusters. before you take down anything - take a picture or draw it, so you don't have to solve a puzzle while putting it back together. I used Saab brake manual for this. It's very important to clean and lubricate all the moving parts - my expanders got stuck causing a high pitch noise. I used new pins and springs for parking brake shoes - the old ones were rusted badly. It is time consuming, especially if you never done it before, and the left side, which is closer to muffler, will require some patience. I am not sure how old your car is, but when I did my brakes, I replaced the dust covers on rear calipers - it's quite easy. After you install the new brake shoes and/or rotors and adjust your parking brake you'll need to do it again in 15-30 miles. Other than that the job is pretty easy. By the way - buy a pin removal tool, like this:

good luck
