After listening to that, I'm slightly confused; it sounds a little like an aftermarket blow off valve. I'm not at all familiar with the differences between U.S. and U.K. models, so I'm wondering if you have a different set-up in the boost bypass system. Unfortunately, I have no idea how much you know about this, so I'm just going to explain it completely, and I apologize if I'm telling you stuff you already know. The purpose of the system is to bypass boost pressure from the high pressure side of the turbocharger, back to the low pressure side when you take your foot off the gas pedal to shift or decelerate. This is done by taking a vacuum sample from the intake manifold, which is only present when the throttle plate is closed, and delivering that to a valve known as a boost bypass valve, or blow-off valve (BOV). In most stock turbo applications this valve is plumbed between the high pressure side and the low pressure side. Many aftermarket valves dump this to the atmosphere, making a whoosh sound; which is what your audio sample sounds like. If your system is anything like the U.S. models, this leads me to believe the hose between your bypass valve and intake pipe has simply come off. This would also explain the check engine light, because this would allow air to enter the intake stream without being measured by the air mass meter.
