Okay. I have replaced the clutch kit in this 900SE. Whew that was fun. I also replaced the lateral arm bushings, anti-sway bar bushings and end-link bushings with poly bushings from Talliaferro kits.
We put everything back together and one of the rear-most subframe bolts was missing after 400 miles. I used antisieze on the subframe bolts....must have been a mistake. The other rear-most subframe bolt was hand tight..ALL subframe bolts were torqued to spec after reinstallation of the trans and subframe.
I am now forced to drill out the 12x1.5 bolt holes for the rearmost bolts and tap them for a 1/2"x 13TPI bolt size and I'm using grade8 1/2"x13tpi bolts. I am also forced to drill out the 14mm x 1.5 bolt holes and tap them to accept a 9/16" x 18tpi grade 8 bolt. The front most subframe bolts are giving me no problem at all.
Oh by the way talliaferro SUCKS because I can't drill through the hardened bushing that is pressed into the aluminum lateral arms in order to use their larger 5/8" bolt and nut combination. Instead I had to obtain another bushing to utilize the factory torex headed bolt to take up the space between their steel sleeve they provide with the poly bushing and the factory bolts. Basically their kit should require the purchase of new modified lateral arms..
My question is this: IS there a procedure as far as which bolts of the six subframe bolts need to be installed in a special order so that they don't start stripping? I have noticed that it is very difficult to get them to all line-up straight without stripping one or some of them.
