The 960s have a 400 index, which means they should go for 40K. This is not bad at all, especially combined with the performance. Mine won't do get to 40K due to the track use, but I'll get 3+ years out of them instead of the two I was getting with the previous tires.

For most of us, tires can be kinda commodities: round, black and good for 40K miles. But there IS a big difference in feel and performance that unfortunately we get really can't suss out without buying. But some shops do give you a 30 day time to exchange the tires.

Tires make a huge difference in a car, so some research and see what you can find.
