I have exactly the same problem!

Hi!
My car will start no problem in the morning even in -20C. Drive to work and then the car would not start when going home. The engine will crank over and over then will start after 15 sec.
When it doesn't start at all, I disconnect the battery for 2 minutes and the engine is starting up like a new one.
Went to the garage, they changed the fuel filter, plugs, hall sensor (distributor). They swaped a crank position sensor for a test but there was no ground coming from the ECU to the main relay.
They installed an old ECU they had but after two three days the problem came back. I put back my old ECU.
Two years ago, I have change the fuel pump and last year the igintion switch. But the fact that disconnecting the battery make the engine start puzzle me. I was disconnecting only the ECU at first and it was OK. But once or twice the car wouldn't start, that when I disconnected the battery. It looks like something (sensor, relay) is still energised when the car is parked. It needs to be powered off before starting.
The crank is worse, when the engine is hot. If I go shopping, at the third store it takes a lot of cranking time to get the engine started. I've change the temp sensor to the ECU, worked for three days. Now I am looking at the Throttle position sensor (TPS) and the crank sensor. But that one was tried at the garage and they put my old one back.
Will keep you posted.
Good luck!
