Well, here is where I'm at now and I'm still not sure where the problem is. The compressor does indeed work. If I connect the wire directly to the battery it turns on. Also, the system blows cold. After wasting several freon cans, I've also established that the system is steady at about 40 PSI when the compressor is running (which should be OK).
However, I can't seem to get any action when I hook the compressor back into the system. I'm assuming it's a pressure switch? I tried a quick jump across the three different leads coming to the pressure switch with a needle nose pliers. Maybe that wouldn't work or maybe that's now how you test it? Also, if that thing is bad will I need to evacuate and recharge the entire system? I am really trying to avoid the vacuum because I don't have that equip and don't have the money to buy it right now.
