I assume you could do it - it's no different from someones nut coming loose (unintentional pun) then tightening it back down through the spring coil. Like I said though, I never tried the "through the spring coil" thing myself - I just read other posts of people doing it.
My only issue is theoretical. Like you,when I tightened mine down, it was in a vise and I used a 3ft pipe wrench to wrench it tight - the spec is 150 ft lbs and I had no practical way of doing it as I do not have that large of a torque adapter.
If yours isn't loose right now, I personally wouldn't do it UNLESS it came loose on its own. If you wrenched on it in a vise, odds are it's probably tight enough to not create a problem anyway, so why cause a potential problem by trying to loosen it then tighten it down just to get some loctite on it - especially since the odds are you won't be able to tighten down as hard as you were able to do on the vise.
