That is essentially what I did to remove the intake manifold as well. Good advice on the intake manifold gasket placement, thanks.
I'm thinking I should do the chain tensioner and guides as well while I am here. The tensioner is grooved, and the tensioner foot measurement was 13.3mm. I noticed below you posted a pic that shows the max extension for the tensioner foot is 15mm, if mine is 13.3mm already it seems like a good idea to replace all of that now as well. Do I also need to install a new chain?
I have read that it is possible to remove the timing chain cover with the engine in place by unbolting all the motor mounts, and pushing the block to the side. Does the engine need to be supported from the bottom when doing this? If so how? Aside from unbolting the motor mounts, and removing all of the items in the way of the timing cover (alternator, water pump, etc.) Is there anything else that needs to be disconnected/unbolted?
Thanks
