Hydraulic clutch pedal question, (long)

Car is a 1998 900SE, which has the hydraulic clutch. My clutch pedal engages fine, shifting is great, no slipping. My only issue is that the pedal will occasionally stick at the engagement point and not pop back after shifting. I usually just tap it with my foot and it pop back up. I've read about the master, slave cylinders or air in system as possible culprits. At first I thought it may be a combination of those things, but after looking at pictures of the clutch pedal shown in platonoff's clutch conversion site, there appears to be a spring in the pedal mechanism (even the hydraulic one, not just the cable clutch pedal). Also reading on the saabsite, having the symptoms I describe, they recommend a new pedal. The problem is that none of the pictures I see of a new pedal have this spring in them, only in the conversion kits that have the bracket and master included. I'm thinking this spring helps in returning the pedal in position and needs replacing. Any ideas? Anyone seen this spring and know what I'm talking about or have ordered a replacement pedal and got the spring as well?
