Before I ordered the spring, I decided to take a look underneath by removing the lower dash panel and moving the clutch with my hand to see what's going on. Good thing I didn't order the spring, because I found something else. It seems that the retaining clip that holds the clevis pin between the master cylinder and clutch pedal is not there. So what happens is that pin rotates and tries to come out of the hole as you press the clutch pedal but the head on the pin lodges against the edge of the hole on the master cylinder clevis. Right at this point is where the clutch pedal sticks. It seems that the head of the pin has wore out one side of the master cylinder clevis more than the other. I put some temporary tie wraps around this hole to resize it (make it smaller) and test the clutch, and now it doesn't stick. But it still needs a way to secure it so it can't fall out. I can't believe the pin never fell out as I was driving.

So now I have a few options.
1) Order the pin retainer and install. I'm not sure how this will hold up because the clevis hole on one side is larger, so the pin isn't equally pushing against both sides of the clevis, thus putting pressure on the retainer.

2) Order a new clevis pin with a hole (as opposed to notch that the current one has) and insert a cotter pin. Maybe this will last longer?

3) Buy new master cylinder to get the new clevis end.

The first 2 options will cost less than $5, so I may try them both before having to do the last option. I wish there was a way to just replace the clevis on the master cylinder.
