I just bought a viggen and did this stuff,

I will assume it has the the stock stereo.

When I got mine only the front speakers worked, and worse they sounded like my x-wife.

I spent a lot of time with this so,

replace the front speakers. I got the Infinity 329CF from amazon for 60$

these were made for the 9-5 but they can be made to fit easily in the 9-3, and they sound good.

I traced the wires and found no rear speakers (after I pulled the deck and found out the hard way that the only way to connect the din cord back to the amp is to pull the acc ( I pulled the sid and cupholder first )

you can use any 6x9 speaker in the rear, but you may have to mount them from the bottom depending on the size. I just used some I had laying around.

door speakers, I spent hours looking at door speakers, but when I pulled the door panels off I found some decent speakers there, just not hooked up, and the wireing to the amp was messed up. I fixed this and they sound good. ( I was and likely still will get some decent woofers from speakerlab, madisound or one of those places.) I did not cut the tweeter wire, there is no reason to do this if you have the stock amp since it has an active crossover.
