When the belt AND tensioner/idler pulleys are done properly using proper parts, the belt goes 60K intervals instead of 30.
So if it is like you say, they should not have to change it until 185K.
The 1997 900 with V6 engine had the latest parts from factory and the service interval in the book for a 1997 was 60K miles just like the 9-5 with V6.
It was only the 94-96 having the 30K intervals until the whole package was replaced and after that, 60K.
Actually, the 94 was a different animal all in itself since the service book stated 90K miles between timing belt changes but when disaster started to strike having the belts fail left and right, on the 95 model they had lowered it to 30K miles in the service book and that also included the 94.
