By "it's up" do you mean that the top is in place as a roof... and you want open it up and enjoy the sunshine?
If so, there's a red lever located behind the rear seat (I think... I've never pulled it) that will release the mechanism so that you can manually operate the top. The rear will not latch to the tonneau when you push it down, but it will sit close.
Likewise, if you can't close the top (stuck open) you can pull that lever and close the top, but the rear won't latch.
'verts can be very hard to diagnose. Usually you need someone with a Tech II, and someone who convinces you they know these 'vert roofs. Motors come later, after you have tried to have it adjusted. You can usually find them on Ebay, or in junkyards, You don't want to buy them from Saab.
