I have a bluetooth OBDII adaptor and using the Torque Android App on my phone to tap into the OBDII data in real time when driving. Was going up a mountain pass in the CA Sierra last week, on a hotter day 80F. Starting at 7200FT to 9000ft. I was seeing the actual coolant temp rise higher than what I am used to thinking was safe. I was not going all out but solid in the boost... maybe 75mph+.

I saw a max temp of 240F I turned off AC and let off at that point it came down to 230F. This seems like a dangerous temp to me.. The stock temp gauge as always was in the middle(all modern cars do this)

So few questions.. One what is the max safe temp? Why does the saab go this high.. should I check to see if my fans are running. All other stuff is up to speed, new thermostat, fresh MBZ coolant, new hoses.

I am concerned that there are far more extreme heat conditions in CA that after my planned upgrade to a GT3071 turbo might require a radiator upgrade. My feeling is the radiator should have been able to handle that mt pass without breaking 210F max.

Thoughts?
