Lubing door mechanism - what lube to use? Posted by IanC [Email] (#139) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IanC) on Sat, 8 Oct 2011 04:51:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My passenger door inner handle quit working correctly, so last night I took off the door panel (relatively easy, thank goodness). Where the rod from the inner handle connects to the rest of the latch had a lot of white corrosion, and the rod was totally frozen. Car is a 99 Vert.
A squirt of PBlaster helped loosen things up a bit. Now, what would be the best lube? Silicone spray would be easiest to get in there, but a harder to apply grease would be more persistent.
I have to thank Mike at Barry's Saab in Northborough, MA for telling me that lubing the door usually fixed this problem.
Thanks,
Ian
