Car is a 1999 2.0 9-3 turbo convertible...belongs to a friend.

A couple of weeks ago he went to start it in the morning to go to work and it would not start. Discovered the bolt holding the sprocket to the intake cam had sheared and the key had broken off so the intake cam was stuck in place. Luckily the valves were in the best possible location so only minor scuffing was visible on the piston tops.

It was decided to install a known good head in case of bent valves. I completed this today. The car will not start. If I use a bit of starting fluid, the car fires right up and runs perfectly for those few seconds until the starting fluid is burned off.

This tells me the fuel pump is not running. Is there something I have missed? I only disconnected two electrical connections...the battery and the temp sender in the head. Fuel pump fuse on the side of the dash is good. From the looks of the dry plugs no gas is getting to them.

Help? Pretty please?
