how long will it last?
my case:
-tension used pulley bearing country of origin = Turkey. No brand name laser etched on it.
-the bearing was filled with about 20% grease.
-the bearing had some very very tiny specks of dirt (i'm calling it dirt , but it was some kind of something).
-the balls, race and carrier cage looked fine after cleaning. cannot say that it looked poorly made.
-after cleaning... it certainly was cleaner than before
-after greasing... it was packed close to 80% full with synthetic grease (sure it was = or better than the unknown grease it formerly contained)
peace of mind that i checked it's condition.
------------------------------
was the bearing high quality?
was it made in an ISO rated facility?
was the bearing chosen for the pulley based on ABEC rating and side and/or radial loading?
------------
all i can say is that it's condition was fine, and much better after i cleaned/repacked it. confident that i will get more miles out of it.
gained peace of mind that i checked it's condition.
my auto was bought used with 140,000 miles on it. whether someone changed the pulley at 1000 or 139000 i would not know.
i would feel better if it was a brand new swiss bearing, but it's not.
-OMB
would a new pulley contain a higher quality bearing.... or just be "new" with the same unknown facility quality issues as mine?
