Honestly, I think we've all wished for that at times of lots of repairs, but also there are huge stretches of time without any repairs at all. like 50 weeks out of the year... so really, do you want a stripped car in your driveway without a convertible top on it for 98% of your cars life? if you had a fleet to maintain, yes. but just one car... how many parts are you going to need? i could see why you're tempted because of the cost of a convertible top. But it sounds like you dropped 5-10k on a paintjob and wheels. Why not treat yourself to a new canvas top or get the one you want from gold -wing and get new parts for failing things as justin recommends.
my vote: don't do it. spend the money on the parts you need, but keep junk out of your life/driveway and let someone drive that car on auction instead. usually parts cars are non salvagable. keep more saabs on the road in other words.
my 2cents. :)
