Most definitely. I had it installed in my mom's 9-3 SE. It was imported into Canada from the US so it didn't have it. I purchased the block heater separately. We have one of those timers for outdoor use and have it go on in the morning since my mom leaves for work super early.
The thing is though, I don't think it's the best heater. I think it just heats the coolant, right? Some of the also heat the oil. Also, the part isn't a Saab part which annoys me. It's some generic part made in Canada for many cars of many makes. I once came across a "parking heater accessory" online from Saab and I think they may (?) have made one themselves. I have a link at the bottom, though I'm not sure if that's the one I had come across.
How long do you plug yours in? At some point I guess it peaks and then just wastes electricity. maybe in this extreme cold, more than 3-4 hours is overkill? Do you feel the car starts/warms easier?
