Head gasket/timing cover oil leak sanity check

Hey all,
My dad's 01 9-3SE (2002 B235R swap) is leaking oil from the usual spot at the head/timing cover/block area, right by the timing chain tensioner. It's already been retorqued and the head gasket was replaced ~3yrs and 30k ago.
After searching around there's a few schools of thought on tackling this common malady. I'm thinking it'd make the most sense for me to just rip the head off, scoot the whole powertrain over to the driver's side a bit, pop the timing cover off and reseal, and reassemble... being that it's already been retorqued I don't see there being any other choice, and my gut feeling looking at it is that it's really coming from the very tippy top of the timing cover anyhow. I'm not keen on trying the JB weld fix.
