Viggen chassis is EXTREMELY sensitive to tire pressure Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 25 Aug 2014 03:18:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
What was intended to be a pleasant top-down twenty mile leisurely round-trip drive to a ice cream stand last night - locally famous for their insanely large cones - turned terrifying only one mile from home. While spiritedly accelerating from a 90 degree turn at a stop sign the Viggen suddenly started fish tailing/oscillating violently and I was barely able to maintain control.
If I hadn't been able to keep the car in my lane it would have been a multi-car accident involving four other vehicles approaching the stop sign on the road I had turned onto.
The remainder of the drive to our destination was naturally very subdued with only cautious driving. After ordering our cones and walking back to the car I saw the problem, the left side rear tire was very low. My wife spotted a coin operated air hose at a neighboring gas station and $1 later we were safe again. The pressure gage on the air hose did not display pressures below 20psig but my tire was under that mark.
Be Careful and always check your tire pressures!
