Have you checked for voltage at the exciter wire (the little one)?
Does your warning light come on when running, or even when turning key to run when not running?
An alternator needs voltage to the exciter to start it charging. This voltage comes through the warning light. If the warning light bulb is bad or the wire is bad, a good alternator will not charge.
