No, that's not true at all, and I'm perplexed by your response. The car has had a REVERSE problem, and only a getting into reverse problem, for a long, long time. It's not related to the clutch, as every other gear works well. Plus, the clutch, master and slave were replaced a few years ago. The car had the reverse problem even before that...
The oil light came on as a result of the overfill, and was not seen before that. Also, the oil light came on almost constantly after a less than 3 mile test drive when I got the car back overfilled. The oil light is no longer on, now that I've corrected the overfill.
She didn't add the oil, as I have the "top off" container that she had in the car, and there was less than 1/2 quart taken out of it. She also was only filling to the very bottom of the stick whenever topping off, which hasn't been that often since the rebuild.
As far as low oil pressure before the rebuild, there was never any evidence of that until the engine was actually destroyed. It's not like the oil light was coming on for any time before the actual "event".
These are the reasons why I'm trying to seek remedy , and also find out what that noise likely is at this point.
