Chattering from Engine Posted by Matt Grimes [Email] (#2198) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Matt Grimes) on Tue, 24 Oct 2017 19:31:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As I continue to do my daily commute with the 9-3 I am picking up on a few more things that may need some attention. There is a chattering noise coming from the engine when under load (most noticeable going up hill) and generally around 2,000 rpm. It does not make the noise if you just rev the engine in Park.
I've gone back through the receipts for car and see that the previous Indy mechanic has noted on the receipts that a new Timing Chain Tensioner was recommended. This has been on every receipt for the past three years. First time was at 108K miles and the car now has 130K miles on it.
Could this be making the noise?
