Motor Oil
Mobil 1, as with any synthetic motor oil it offers increased temperature stability, great wear protection, and eliminates sludge build-up. Best of all, Mobil 1 is easy to find at a reasonable price. I run my vehicles 5,000 miles between oil and filter changes.
Oil Filter
Mobil 1 or AC/Delco Ultagard Gold. Both filters offer synthetic filter media, small particulate filtration, and robust construction.
Automatic Transmission Fluid
Mobil 1 synthetic ATF, as with any synthetic ATF it offers increased temperature stability, great wear protection, and eliminates sludge build-up. Mobil 1 synthetic ATF meets the Dexron III requirements and is compatible with conventional (non-synthetic) ATF. Best of all, Mobil 1 is easy to find at a reasonable price. One thing to remember is that a standard automatic transmission fluid change only removes half the transmission fluid. The other half of the ATF is still held in the torque converter. I do a standard ATF change every 30,000 miles.
Brake Fluid
Valvoline Synpower Brake Fluid is my current choice for street use. The Valvoline Synpower has a ‘dry’ boiling point of 513F and a ‘wet’ boiling point of 333F, compared to the almost universally used Castrol LMA which has a dry’ boiling point of 450F and a ‘wet’ boiling point of 311F. Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years due to moisture adsorption by the brake fluid and the resulting lowering of the boiling point, and possible brake system corrosion caused by moisture in the system.
