I just got back from the dealer from my minor service at 55K. Everything is realtive when going to the dealer but they say I need the folloing. I need the lists help in fixng my problems.
Here's the list they gave me: Both inner driver seals leaking 660.00 each, rear pads and rotors 510.00, rear shocks 430.00, rear muffler 340.00, serpentine belt cracked 160.00, bulkhead drains blocked 79.00, washer check valves leaking 45.00.
What are my opions on the driver seals?
Brakes make no sense. I can understand if the fronts are gone at 55k but has anyone EVER had the rears wear out before the fronts, pads AND ROTORS? They say the fronts are fine. I asked the service person if there was a bias problem and they just look at me funny and didn't believe the fronts were never done. The rears look easy to replace is there something hidden that I should leave to the experts?
How tough are rear shocks to put on and what are peoples recommendations for replacements. I'm pretty mechanical. I'm decent with a wrench and non-computer controlled things.
Any special torque setting with regard to serpentine belt? Looks easy to do, what does the list know/think.
Muffler I knew about and am told is easy.
Where and what are the washer check valves? I'll look under the hood, how big can they be.
Thanks for any help you can lend.
Jay, Beverly, MA
