Car is in Saab dealer shop, out of warranty. I noticed my coolant was a shade too dark, like emerald, with some minor black and white crap floating in it. I changed the coolant at 35K. Also, I change the oil every 5K. Here's the kicker...
My service advisor said my oil was very dirty, and that there is an accumulation of sludge build-up in the engine. He and another advisor said that the engine (I have a 2.3 non-turbo) starts to be taken over by what he described as milk in coffee slime that needs to be purged out of the engine. What the hell is he talking about? Has anyone heard of such a thing? I'm really puzzled. I guess when I call him back in the morning, they are going to try to sell me some fru-fru oil purge/oil conditioner treatment to solve the "problem". Has anyone heard of such a thing? Thank you.
Jeff
