Clicker or scale torque wrenches...

Clicker type are supposed to be more accurate than the scale type. The dial gauge type (really expensive) are supposed to be the most accurate of all. In reality, how do you know that any one of them is accurate unless you have it calibrated on a regular basis?
That said, I use two different torque wrenches myself. I have an old scale type that I use for the lug nuts/bolts. It is close enough and the scale is handy for sequencially torquing the lug nut/bolts at 40, then 60, and finally 80 ft-lbs. The scale type is sometimes banged around on the garage floor while rotaing tires or crawling under the car to check suspension bolts, and hangs on a hook in the garage.
I use a clicker type torque wrench for the spark plugs, caliper bolts, and other items that are more critical. The clicker stays in a nice case and is calibrated by me at work about once a year (one perk of being a quality engineer).
