I've fitted abbott springs , konis and the viggen rescue kit to my 900s convertible - you really need stiffer springs although the SET springs I think are stiffer than my 900S was and lower too - yeah I know it's overkill for a non turbo but I'm very pleased with the result, steering, handling & ride are good provided the road is reasonably civilized. oh yeah, I've got pirelli p7000 tyres on 16" wheels.
While you're pulling the springs out you should check out the upper strut bearings, mine were either worn out or a faulty design (clunking noise and weird steering) - they were replaced with what the dealer claimed were new and improved bearings - didn't look any different though.
handles great now - a bit tiring to drive on substandard roads but from my recent experience the roads in the UK are ideal for a firm suspension set-up.
good luck!
