The pull is often as xq described, the car following the crown in the road. A simple (but not perfect) test is to get on a two lane highway with a grass median in between- 4 lanes total- (a bit outside of the city). Often the right lane will be crowned to the right and the left lane will be crowned to the left (really crown in the middle), so- See if the car will 'pull' to the left. Then try the right lane.

This following the road, as it is, takes a bit getting used to. Took me a couple of months. However, one you are used to it, an allignment problem will be obvious to you.

Another (rough) test, is to see how the steering wheel sits when you are cruising on the highway. It should be relatively even (flat) when you are going straight)
