Downsizing the Saab?

I, too, have the dreaded highway vibration problem, which seems to have reached epidemic proportions in these parts. In terms of remedy, I don't care to simply replace the stock equipment so that I can be looking to repair/replace the wheels in another 50k mi.
So the question is, what to do? There are several options I see. First, I can either remedy the bent wheel situation and go to a higher sidewall tire 55 series tire on the same 16" alloys. Second, I can downsize to a 205/60-15" and put up with the detriments of the increased sidewall height on my 900's handling in exchange for not feeling like an amateur jackhammer operator while on the highway between ~68-80.
On the other hand, I havea great excuse for speeding. Can't you hear it now? "Sorry officer, I HAD to go 85... you see, when I got 75 or 80 my steering wheel vibrates!" Yeah, sure.
