Yes you may be right but then again the spacers are less then a 1/8 of an inch(can't really remember the size sorry). Its more like the size of a nice washer. I imagine that a some level I'm paying for it but them again you have to remember what you are getting are wider tires which in turn allow you to grip the road better and perform at a higher level. Now are these tires/increased handling of the car increasing the stress on the tire bearing or is it just the spacer or is it a combination of both? I dont know.
Remember there are always risks associated with performance gains. You happen to buy an Abbott ECU that raises the base boost. Again you are losing some of your boost retard by increasing the base boost. You buy a new upgraded rear sway bar bumps are going to feel bigger due to the increased stiffness of the rear suspension. Whenever you buy an performance upgrade for your car there is always a trade off at some level and in this case I really think its a non-issue when considering the gains. Yes I may need new wheel bearings sooner then others but then again I may not. Time will only tell.
Also another thing to remember I have a 97 900 during these years on the viking rims the center of the rim had a Saab symbol. These rims always stuck to the disk brake when removing them making it extremly hard to remove without kicking or hammering off(with a rubber mallet). Saab mechanics have also tried to add grease and other combinations to allow them to be easier to remove during changing a flat tire. Imagine how frustrating it is for someone to get a flat and then not be able to remove the tire to fix it. Now with the tire spacers I have no trouble removing the tires at all problem fixed.
