MJM, thanks for replying. Sounds really familiar. The car did it a lot during the summer of 2000 and then I cleaned the IAC and it seemed to settle down. When the problem re-appeared a year later I figured it was finally the IAC. Wrong. I am also an engineer (EE by schooling turned software developer over time) so I too understand the nature of intermittent problems. Technically speaking, one is "HOSED" when they have "intermittent problems" :) I sure wish the problem would go "hard" so it could be diagnosed. I am getting tired of the car NOT slowing when I lift off.

Oddly enough, when I leave the cluch in on breaking all the way down to idle the car will stay at around 1100. Any tap on the accelerator will then leave it at about 1800.

Where is the ECU anyway ? I'd like to clean/reseat its connector. (Another thing "famous" in the world of avionics. The infamous tech report of "Cleand/Reseated controller;fault cleared;aircraft returned to service" ) Why can't I try it too! Either that or just Ctrl-Alt-Delete the damn car ! Works a lot for servers ! Wishfull thinking.

As far as the ISAT I'd probably have a dim chance of the dealer leting me drive around with it also since I havn't brought the car to them for anyting but warranty stuff since I DIY. An it is long out of warranty.

Oh, the location...Central Connecticut.

Later,

Mike
