Righty tighty, lefty loosey...It is very easy to torque the drain plug to a point that makes it difficult to remove...This happens quite frequently at 10 minute oil change establishments...
Make absolutely sure the car is secure on the jack, DO NOT USE THE EMERGENCY JACK SUPPLIED WITH THE CAR, THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE YOU ARE GOING TO USE WILL EASILY CAUSE THE CAR TO FALL OFF THE JACK!!!!!!! Chock the tires...
Clean the drain plug from any road grime that has built up, the bolt head is quite shallow and you're going to need as much bite as you can get...You might even want to spray some WD30 on the bolt and let it set for a while...Hate to say this, but the drain plug was so tight on our car, I had to heat the bolt a little just to get it to turn (that's how tight the bolt can be)...
Make sure you are using a quality socket, because even though you done all the precautionary work, you'll probably still need a fairly large breaker bar in order to apply enough power to the bolt to break it loose, a cheap socket could break or strip the bolt...
Chances are that your oil filter is on pretty dog-gone tight too...Use the strap type oil filter wrench that compresses as you pull on it...
Follow the manufacturers direction when replacing the parts, it will save you a lot of grief the next time you change the oil...
Good Luck!!!!!!
