Took a fairly long trip over the weekend and had a problem with my car on the way back. As I accelerated after a stop, the engine seemed to "cut-out" on me and sputter. When I pulled over, it could not maintain idle, nor would it accelerate when I stepped on the gas. I attempted to re-start a couple times, but still could not get a consistent idle or accelerate without the engine cutting out again. I turned the car off for about 15 seconds, re-started, had idle/accleration, and was on my way...for about 30 miles.

Car cut out again while traveling at 60 mph. Pulled over to the side, turned off for about 15 seconds, re-started, and was OK again...for about 90 miles.

Car cut out once more, but I was able to regain idle/acceleration without pulling over or shutting off. I haven't had a problem the last three days over (really) short trips, so I don't know if this is a problem with the car or something else (i.e., bad tank of gas?).

One last variable: my trip was to a college football game, so I had a load of ice/beverages in the trunk that was leaking. Doubt that may have affected the situation, but you never know.

Thanks in advance for any comments/solutions.
