Am I nuts, or is my '95 900S getting faster?

OK- so I've got a '95 900S (plus a '00 9-5 that we traded our '95 Aero in for). I've driven explosively fast cars (my Aero!) and reasonably quick cars (my 9-5!). We've had our 900S for just about 4 years and 50,000 miles (she now has 135,000!) In reading some period reviews of the '95 900S, I was struck by several auto journalists who recommended saving money on the turbo and just buying the S- they felt the engine was damn quick, even without the turbo.
I've always felt the cars' acceleration was reasonable, but she seems as of late to be getting even faster! Low-end torque is preposterous compared to a turbo-equipped 900, but when you have the revs up there and give her the gas, she lunges forward (with a stick, mind you).
Anyone else have this impression? Can the saying about old Chevy's be ammended for Saab: "Old Saabs never die...they just go faster!?"
