Just got a 96 900SE and have a few questions (long) Posted by Andrew [Email] ![]() ![]() |
First of all, let me say thank you to all who have posted here. I have gone through close to all 96 pagesof of this message board and have picked up a great deal.
I have had a 96 900S for the past year but missed the power I had in my previous car. I liked the NG900 so much that the logical solution was a Turbo.
So I found this 96 900SE with 38,000 less miles than my S, which had just reached 86,000.
I had an independent mechanic that I found on this site check out the car and he said it was in great shape. Rear wiper fluid won't spray, cd player not recognized, and rear brake pads have 5-10k left on them.
I can't find the check valve for the rear sprayer (although I fixed one on my S on the passenger side so if i can just find the it...). I fixed the cd player following the exact steps of a poster on this board.
The only thing I have noticed that concerns me is cabin noise. When I reach 30-35mph and up, a loud sound like wind noise is very noticable. When I open the sunroof, the wind is not the issue. There is also a small to medium vibration in the steering wheel/front end. The car also pulls moderately to the left. The front end does not feel loose and the suspension seems fine too.
I don't know much about cars, but my guess was some type of balance and alignment issue in the front (and maybe rear) wheels. Has anyone had a similar experience or have suggestions.
My other question was in trying to clean the cabin filter, i could not get the wipers to budge. I removed the nut and tried to pull the assembly straight off but couldn't. Is there a trick i don't know.
Thanks again for all the knowledge and enthusiasm.
