You can get the exact same Bosch sensor on a different cable for 1/3 or 1/4 of the cost. You have to cut your old sensor cable and splice in the new unit after cutting it cable. The joints should be soldered and heat shrink clad at the wire and bundle level. So it is a bit of work. The high temperature insulation is not easy to strip and the wires are hard to get tinned. But it is all basic. Getting the old cable(S) removed and routed back in can be a task, but no different fron using the Saab supplied unit.
I wanted to have mine renewed so to not have an event someday at the dealer where they say that the sensor is at fault and have to have them install the $aab sensor.
Also, single wire and 3 wire sensors have the signal ground through the down pipe, turbo, manifold etc. Not the best signal path!. The sensor can have a resistive juction to the downpipe were it threads in and seats. The sensor will register at bad even if the sensor is good. Put in a new one and reseat and yep, problem solved. Back out the old one without removing the cables etc, and reseat, yep problem solved again. This problem can be detected with a good multimeter by checking the sensor body to ground resistance and trouble shooting from there.
Will some dealers check for the resistance problem first... a few will. They do at George's Imports! Obviously some dealers or indy's could so easily take advantage of this situation.
