95 vs. 98

I'm in the market for a used SAAB and have come across two possibilities. Option 1 - A friend of a friend is selling a '95 900 setc with 42k miles that, according to the owner, hasn't had any major problems to speak of, had the top replaced while still under warranty 2 years ago (recommended by the dealer) and has been dealer serviced since new (has all records). Option 2 - A dealer is selling a '98 900 set 4 door with 48k that is still has a few months left on the original warranty and seems to be in great shape. I am scheduled to take both to an independent SAAB mechanic this week to ensure they are both in good condition and, considering they are in the similar price range, I have an interesting choice. I would rather get a convertible but I have heard that the '98s are so drastically improved over the 95-96 models and that there is no comparison in reliability. What is everyones' opinion on these two models. I know the 4 door vs. convertible is a personal preference but I am interested in knowing if the 98 is really that much better of a model to buy. Any opinions would be appreciated.
