I have been running without a cat since the summer (also have the sport exhaust). I cut it out and installed a straight pipe in its place and put the second O2 sensor in it. I have to admit that the performance gains are very noticeable, faster spool up and higher boost. However, it is really, really LOUD! I am not advocating the removal of the catalytic converter, but it was helpful to see the benefit of reduced backpressure. I still have my old cat but I would like to get a high flow cat soon and install it. No CEL has been thrown, however my MPG has decreased by about -2 MPG, probably due to the combination of mods and driving style though.
