Insurance repairs advice

I was recently rear ended and brought my SAAB (1996 900SE)into a local shop to be repaired (the entire hatch lid had to be replaced). Went back today to pick up my car and noticed that the hatch that was put on had a different style i.e. from 1996 on models have red/clear panel all the way across the back, while the one they put on didn't have this, so I'm guessing it was from a 1994 or 1995. Additionally the paint was a bit rough around the edges. Body shop guys said it was a used hatch and that any car older than two years old generally gets used parts/like quality parts put on it. Is this true, or am I getting ripped off here. If this is the case, and I'm stuck with the used part, seems to me the hatch they put on isn't very good quality and they should find another one. Are new parts (i.e. the entire hatch) still available? If so, where would you find one? Looking for some advice here as it seems the shop is tring to take me down ripoff road.
