Further info on Bruce's excellent sugguestion -
There are two corkscrew shaped rubber bumpers on the underside of the hatch lid. They are located on the right and left side of the hatch, near the spoiler. The rubber bumpers merely screw in and out of a sheetmetal holder. If the rubber bumpers are not in contact with the body, the hatch may not 'pop-up' far enough to stay unlocked when you push the release button on the driver's door. I found that the bumpers works OK if I turn the bumpers clockwise until it is screwed all the way in, then turn it 2 to 2 ½ full turns out. This may vary on your car.
