Hello all,
I have a 1996 Saab 900s with the 2.3L engine. About 2 months ago the check engine light came on and soon after a grinding noise came from my engine. I discovered that the idler pulley needed to be replaced. I proceeded to replace the pulley as well as the serpentine belt. Since then, whenever the temperature drops below zero degrees celcius the check engine light comes on. It remains on until the outside temperature rises above zero. The coolant is fine and I replace the oil and filter and both are filled to the proper level. Does anyone out there know if the engine light is somehow related to having the idler pully replaced (or is it a coincident?) - because before that, the light has never come on. If it is not responsible does anyone know what might be causing this? I appreciate any helpful advice you have. Thank you in advance.
MC
