The KYB mount bodies have much less metal in their castings, but that may not matter. As for the durability of the rubber element, perhaps it will be better. Having the OEM mountd degrade in 75 to 100K is nothing to be proud of.
I don't know thats going on with the rubber mounts. Mine had cracks and tears, but I was not able to understand why that would allow the shaft to move around lateraly so much. I could see it, but I could not understand it. With the new mounts, steering and stability was vastly improved, and after a month, I did 'the check' and saw that the shaft tops would flex a bit rotationially or pivot wise, but there was no gross lateral movement.
So if you see lateral movement, and the steering and stability suck, then new mounts should improve things quite a bit. I look forward to your post install report and your impressions of what 'the check' indicates with the new mounts.
Remind your installer about the lower spring seating detail. If one is out the steering wheel will be 'crooked'. This can be corected without removing the strut or compressing the spring. So the need to adjuct both tie rods is a sign of the spring not been proberly seated.
If you do the koni's, remember my post about degreassing the retainer threads and using loctite blue.
