1.) I would avoid switching to synthetic on anything but a VERY low mileage engine. Others will disagree with me, but I believe the synthetic will be repelled by the dino-oil soaked seals and valve guides, lending to problems. This is a very controvertial topic in the automotive world...and the reason you see the spectrum of dino, pure synthetics, and synthetic blends on the market. I don't think there is anything wrong with using dino oil, you just have to change it every 3K.
2.) You are overdue for tranny service. Do it now and hope that you haven't inflicted more damage than you can recover from.
3.) A worn O2 sensor can make the engine run slightly rich, lending to decreased gas mileage. However, an older, higher mileage engine may not get the same mileage as when it was new.
