First off, thanks to everyone that's been advising me as I tried to navigate the very limitted and limitting options available to the 900s NA owner with a little Turbo envy for all the fun mods you guys get to do. Over the weekend, I did a LOT (I mean a LOT) of research on this...crawled through the archives and talked to all the techs in town I could and have decided not to go overboard trying to trick out a basically non-modifiable 900s NA, AT.
So, I'm not going to put a loud sport exhaust on under the illusion that I will suddenly have turbo-like power, instead I will just replace my leaking from muffler with a new like piece.
I will however use the k&n filter, and techron premium instead of the plus i usually put in, and get a motorvac done.
Now, doesn't this finally sound like I got some sense in me (at last)?
So after all my meanerings (are you guys patient or what!? Thank you!), I now have boiled it down to two very specific and very sensible questions:
1. I can't find the front muffler (#4966859) on any sponsor's sites. What options have I got to keep costs down? Where to buy it? and is it a DIY install (don't worry, I have a real mechanic friend). Any other info on replacing the front muffler or tips and tricks to doing it would be appreciated (i'll even give you a dollar)!
2. Motorvac: good idea? If so, this looks like a brand name (Motorvac TM), meaning it's not JUST a saab service, but anyone can do it? Dealer wants $120 in Portland, OR. Can't I do better than that? Or should I not go to ANY non-saab service places?
Guys, thank you for all your help and patience while my head was spinning trying to figure out what mods I could do to the car that doesn't truly need any...I can see that now a good, clean running quiet 2.3L is a nice car indeed, and I'm hoping the motor vac will improve my milage again.
Sincerely,
Tom L.
