I have answered that topic too, but it might be difficult to find in the threads.
Dealers have known about the updated tensioners longer than anyone else, but they hesitate to just throw them in because they would have to foot the bill.
If it's nothing wrong with the old tensioner at the time of T-belt replacement, they are not allowed to replace it and have Saab pick up the cost. They have to prove why it's needed. Otherwise they have to pay or the customer have to pay for it.
And if they start to tell every customer about how bad this old tensioner is, someone is gonna start raising questions and maybe get a recall going.
And that is nothing that any carmaker wants to happen.
