Thanks for all of your responses. I think I have found another car. I have to say though, that after reading your responses, I went online to all of the major car sites including this one, and could not find low-mileage Saabs for under about $11 or $12K.

The car I think I will probably buy belonged to a friend, and so I can verify the way it's been driven, having often been in the car! It was mostly highway miles, as my friend used it to commute.

It's a 96 900SE Turbo with a clean record, no accidents, 65K miles, for $8000. He was actually not going to sell it b/c he likes it so much (was going to sell his 2000 Subaru instead) but since he's been going back and forth on it and I am looking for a 900S, he decided to sell it to me. It's not really negotiable... for less than that, he has decided he will keep it and sell the Subaru. (They recently acquired both a beautiful baby girl and a brand new VW Passat wagon).

It's not final, of course... but I think after I test drive it it will be. Oh, it has new brakes, too (someone last week got a mechanic's report saying it needed new brakes so he fixed them, but the person was no longer interested).

Best thing is it's a manual and a turbo with a much sweeter sound system (I didn't like the stereo in the 900S that much).

Whaddy'all think?
