Yeah, the scratches you see is most likely caused by worn out balance sprocket debris that have been past through oil filter or have been splashed up from under piston of the rotating crankshaft.
One thing to do though is if you could find a friendly car or machine shop where they have a leakdown tester and a blind plug that mounts on top of each cylinder at the time.
That way you can test leak down of the piston rings and it would give you a better answer if it's any ide of putting it back together as is.
If you have 30 to 40% leakdown or more then it's kind of wasted money to put ot together as is.
I demand better than 20% leak down doing a customer car, and an fairly even reading over all cylinders.
